THERE'S an opportunity to dust off your dancing shoes and join South West Equine Protection for its spring ball this April.

The big fundraising event will take place at the China Fleet Club in Saltash on April 11.

SWEP is raising money for its new yard so that it can give the ponies it rescues the care they need.

The charity's new yard will allow staff to provide all the veterinary care and treatment they require along with facilities so they can handle the ponies using natural horsemanship techniques.

Fundraiser for SWEP, Abi Clarke, said: 'Without SWEP the moorland that surrounds us would be littered with suffering ponies. The charity works tirelessly to rescue ponies that are in poor condition, have been hit by cars and have been abandoned.

'Throughout the process both staff and volunteers see the change from the distressed ponies that come in, through to the cheeky happy ponies that go off into their new loan homes.

'We aim to improve the quality of life of these ponies and give them the care and attention they deserve.

'When we receive pictures of ponies that have been re-homed, it is very rewarding for staff and supporters.'

SWEP is still looking for companies to sponsor tables at only £30.
