AROUND 200 people turned out at an Olympic legacy event in Tavistock inspired by the thrilling spectacle of London 2012.
West Devon Borough Council and Tavistock Community Sports Centre hosted 'Super Saturday' on September 22.
The event saw people aged from five to 94 try out their choice of Olympic sports during free half hour taster sessions run by local sports clubs.
Athletics, badminton, cycling, endurance running, fencing, football, gymnastics, hockey, modern pentathlon, rowing, swimming, table tennis, Taekwondo, tennis, triathlon and weightlifting were all on offer.
Local sports clubs were also on hand to talk to people about joining the clubs and training with them.
The Tavistock Wheelers road cycling club also staged a fun time trial event on stationary bikes which pulled in over 20 people to have a try at the sport.
Geoff Whitlow, chairman of Tavistock Wheelers, said: 'It was a great event for our club to be a part of.
'We are always keen to welcome new cyclists to the club and it was nice to chat to people who are considering taking up road cycling.
'We even had the pleasure of discussing road cycling with local Olympic athlete, Heather Fell.'
