OKEHAMPTON town councillors approved a compromise dividing more than £100,000 from the Waitrose turnover bonus between the council?s properties and parks committee.

The bulk of the money will go to the properties committee, allowing a schedule of urgent repair works on the town?s civic buildings to begin soon.

At the full council meeting on Monday members approved the agreement made in previous committee discussions to split the six-figure sum due to them under the profit-sharing scheme with Waitrose, 70/30 in favour of the properties committee.
