BACK by popular demand, Strangeface Theatre bring their latest show, 'The Last Resort' to West Devon for Villages in Action at the end of February.

A huge success last time they were in Devon, Strangeface use an energetic style of physical theatre, mask, puppets and original music to create a witty and original piece of theatre for everyone over the age of 11.

Their style is described as Spitting Image meeting The Brothers Grimm and this Faustian folk-tale is told with a sound track played live. They use a range of styles, from Eastern European folk to moments of classical and jazz, intermixed with stranger, more haunting sounds.

Their influences are Terry Gilliam, recently awarded a BAFTA for services to the British Film Industry and who is also well known for his work with Monty Python, and Director Tim Burton whose memorable films include Edward Scissorhands and Nightmare Before Christmas.

Both directors have a liking for the gothic, fantasy comedy.

Strangeface artistic director and puppet maker Russell Dean has a long list of high-profile creations to his name, not least of which is the giant Maggie Thatcher puppet that was used in Billy Elliot in London, Sydney and on Broadway.

The masks for The Last Resort will be exceptional and the whole visual effect will be very memorable indeed.

Strangeface will be at Lydford Nicholls Hall on Friday 27th February at 7.30pm with tickets priced at £6.50/£5.00 from The Castle Inn or telephone 01822 820345.
