SIXTY one traffic speeding incidents in Grenofen, sometimes resulting in an accident, is a shocking statistic over seven years! I have written two previous letters on this topic — the A386 at Lydford and Mary Tavy being like a racetrack, and reckless motorists mowing down the ponies on Dartmoor. A sad situation! There are many drivers in our society who do so with much care and attention, mainly us older ones. But I am convinced there are also many who, when they get behind their steering wheels, seem to allow their power to go to their heads — they are transformed into some sort of monster, and glory in becoming 'kings of the road'. So very sad. This is an ongoing situation, so be it Lydford, Mary Tavy, Grenofen or anywhere, the worried residents' pleas to certain motorists will always completely fall on deaf ears — it is all to do with human nature that needs a new look — a change of outlook, a conversion! Tony Smith Lydford I THINK that the residents of Grenofen should think themselves lucky that they have a speed limit. Here at Magpie Bridge we do not have one and you take your life in your hands when you try to cross over the bridge. I have not been able to park my car in my property for some time as it is too dangerous to drive out. The postman is not allowed to cross the road to deliver my mail, yet I have to take my rubbish etc across the road. Recently we had a tractor overturn his trailer here.
