MORE than 80 runners enjoyed the challenging and muddy course of the Sourton Scramble 10K this Saturday.
Weather conditions were kind to the runners whose course tackled Sourton Tor, took in the beautiful views of Meldon reservoir and finished along the Granite Way. Eleven Okehampton Running Club members entered and completed the race in excellent times.
First of the club's members to cross the finish line was Andy Vallance in 43 mins 42secs, coming fifth overall. He was closely followed by Roger Voaden in 43.57, Gavin Punchard 45,12, Bryan Friend 46.12 and Paul Crease 46.22.
The club's first lady home and third female runner overall was Kirstin Phippard in 52.09. Dennis Thorpe did exceptionally well winning the over 70 group in 71.50. Other club members to finish included Jean-Paul Quertier (52.03), Mervyn Rice (55.06), Marilyn Cooper (62.26) and Jane Lott (75.12).
