AN iconic spooky ride restored to its original glory, was officially opened recently by Citv's famous puppet Sooty.

Richard Cadell and his puppet Sooty performed the opening ceremony of the restored 1940s Ghost Train ride at Dingles Fairground Heritage Centre in Lifton.

The Fairground Heritage Trust, which operates at Dingles, using volunteers, has spent six months restoring the 1940s dark ride, which once travelled with Billy Smarts Circus.

Joinery, welding and electrical work have all been undertaken to restore the historic ride, and four new train bodies have been constructed using the original chassis.

Richard Cadell is a member of the Fairground Heritage Trust Friends' Group.
