Tavistock RFC U16s 38
Torrington U16s 5
TAVISTOCK U16s entertained a depleted Torrington side, as both teams played their first match for five weeks, following the cold snap.
Rustiness was apparent from the outset, but after a stuttering start, Billy Boulton opened the scoring for the home side with a well worked try, which was successfully converted by Ed Longden.
Tavistock ran in a further two tries with one conversion without reply to take a 19-0 half time lead.
Torrington were bolstered in the second half by Zac Cinnamond and Billy Boulton, who quickly made a difference with some dominant front row play which permitted Torrington to score an early second half try.
Tavistock however were much slicker in the backs and Richie Coker was a threat throughout the match with some excellent running from deep, enabling him to widen the deficit with a further try for Tavistock.
Callum McCormick then made a superb interception to finally take the game beyond Torrington. Player of the match was Sam Eaton.
