A SPLENDID £750 has been raised in a raffle to collect funds for a new skatepark in Tavistock.
Winners in the Taviskate prize draw were picked by West Devon?s mayor Cllr Richard Phillips and chairman of the town council?s properties committee Cllr Peter Donkin on Saturday.
Bob Pilbeam, chairman of Taviskate, said the partnership of West Devon Borough Council, the town council, Youthwize and Taviskate was growing in confidence in its ability to raise the £90,000 needed to build a well designed, low maintenance, quality skatepark in Bensons Meadow.
He said there was still ?a long way to go? and Taviskate members would have to do all they could to help raise as many funds as possible.
Mr Pilbeam thanked the retailers and businesses in Tavistock who had kindly donated prizes for the draw.
