THEY might not have been as successful as Tottenham Hotspur?s famous ?push and run? side of the early 1960s managed by Bill Nicholson but this Tavistock side of that period certainly look the part in their black and white kit. Wescon, formed from the Wesleyan and Congregational Chapels, might not have gone to a league and cup double but they enjoyed a good game of football. This picture, handed in by Tavistock Cricket Club president and former Wescon player Stuart Munday shows the team up at Middlemoor, Whitchurch Down. Pictured above, back row: Bill Blowe (manager), Den Crocker, Dave Voaden, Ted Sherrell, Graham Towl, Den Towle, Roger Quick, Les Tucker and Steve Eslick; front row - Stuart Munday, Tony Wilson, Maurice Craze, Barry Chappell and Dave Martin.
