TAVISTOCK Sir Francis Drake Bowling Club?s run of good fortune continued this week when they played five games and won them all.

Skip Eric Stephens started his week by going down five shots on the first end of Monday?s game against Lee Moor in the Plymouth Evening League, but recovered to win the contest 23-16, thanks to his team of Clive Jago, Norman Paramor and Ernie Piper.

Tavistock won the match 85-67, with skip Mike Allen and his team of Pat Sykes, Sandy Sanders and Tony Coombs emerging 27-14 victors and skip Roy Northam leading his squad of Colin Tremaine, David Perry and Lionel Sims to a narrow 20-19 victory.

Skip Malcolm Bloomer and his team of Der Saunders, John Smith and Brian Preece fought out a tight contest before going down 15-18.

Tuesday saw a mixed team facing Plymstock on the Tavistock Green for a match which resulted in an 82-59 victory for Tavistock, who won three of the four rinks played.

Skip Jean Flay and her team of Norman Paramor, Gordon Northey and David Perry ran out 25-12 winners, while skip Sandy Sanders led his squad of Ron Cooper, George Blackburn and Ann Brown to a 20-17 victory.

Der Saunders and his team of Yvonne Meneer, John Timmins and Ray Moore emerged 23-14 victors, while skip Jenny Tremaine and her team of Ray Meneer, Barry Chappell and Brian Preece lost by two shots when going down 14-16.

Thursday?s two-rink home match against Plymstock Bees in the ladies? league saw Tavistock Ladies winning 45-32 thanks to skip Marion Allen leading her team to a 25-15 victory and skip Jenny Tremaine and her squad winning 20-17.

The men?s Friday Evening League match at home to Unity Park resulted in an 85-73 victory for the Tavistock team thanks to skip Mike Allen and his team of Gordon Northey, Pat Sykes and Tony Coombs, winning 24-12.

The other three Tavistock rinks fought out drawn games, with skip Malcolm Bloomer and his team of Der Saunders, John Smith and Brian Preece concluding with an 18-18 results.

Skip Eric Stephens and his squad of Clive Jago, Norman Paramor and Ernie Piper drew 22-22, and skip Roy Northam and his team of Colin Tremaine, David Perry and Lionel Sims managed a 21-21 draw game thanks to what proved to be an

unlucky 13th end for their opposition, who lost it by five shots.

The Unity Park opposition then won five of the remaining six ends, but could not gain enough shots to make up for their 13th defeat.

Saturday saw Tavistock welcome a visiting team from Bodmin for a five-rink match which ended in a 97-76 win for the home team who won three rinks and drew another.

Tavistock skip and acting captain Mike Allen led his squad of Hazel Lovell, Wallace Northey and Ray Moore to a 24-12 victory, while skip Marion Allen and her team of Tony Coombs, Lauri Smith and Ernie Piper won 17-16.

Skip Roy Northam and his team of Tay Meneer, Albert Townsend and Jenny Aldridge, finished their game in style when picking up five shots on the last end to win 23-13.

Skip Rob Bowhay and his team of Freda Issac, Gordon Northey and Barry Chappell picked up one shot on the last end to achieve a creditable 15-15 result and skip Der Saunders and his team of Eric Stephens, Jon Solly and Ann Brown, played a game of two halves, when fighting back from being 7-17 down on the 13th to finish the game having been beaten 18-20.
