WORKSHOPS for farmers concerned about the single payment scheme are being held in the West Devon and East Cornwall area following huge demand for information from farmers. The SPS came into force on January 1 ? although West Devon Agri-BIP held several workshops on the scheme last year, demand outstripped supply and more events are planned. Stewart Horne, farmer and Agri-BIP manager, said: ?We have had to turn people away because we just can?t fit them all in.? The workshops focus on set aside requirements, cross compliance, grass designations and how the SPS affects grass keep graziers and vendors. They will be held in Okehampton today (January 27) and on February 3, Launceston on February 1, Ivybridge on February 10 and Pensilva on February 17, all starting at 7.30pm. Each event costs just £8.49 plus VAT. For more information or to book a place, which is essential, please call freephone 0800 592872.
