IT might be approaching the bleak midwinter, but now is not the time to put away swimsuits and trunks ? entries are being invited for the world?s biggest swimming fundraiser and pools in Tavistock will be taking part.
The Butlins Swimathon 2004 takes place between March 13 and 21 2004 and organisers are aiming to raise £2.5-million.
Macmillan Cancer Relief will be the main beneficiary of the proceeds, with some money also being distributed to smaller, local charities.
And for the first time, as well as traditional certificates, medals, swimming hats and fundraising gifts, entrants can shape up for the summer of 2004 with their own ?personal trainer?.
Swimmers with e-mail can choose from a range of personal swimming programmes of six, eight or ten weeks and once their challenge has been set, they will receive regular e-mails providing tips on training, motivation and nutrition.
Swimmers in West Devon can take part in the Swimathon at Meadowlands and at Kelly College.
