ORGANISERS of the Dartmoor Folk Festival have revealed the line-up for this summer's event.
Top artists from the folk world will be performing alongside some of the best local entertainers at the 33rd festival, which will run from August 6 to 8.
Heading the line-up will be England's finest and most popular roots duo, double 2010 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards winners Show of Hands — best duo and best original song.
Other well-known national folk artists include Les Barker, The Yetties, Brian Peters, The Claque, The Carrivick Sisters, The Four Star Trio, Polkaworks and Mog.
Celebrated local artists include The Dartmoor Pixie Band, Tony Beard (The Wag from Widecombe), Dave Wills and Rob Pudner. Many morris and dance teams will be performing too.
The festival at South Zeal will include the Dartmoor Step Dance and Broom Dance Championships, a Dartmoor Fayre, craft displays, dances, a music hall, ceilidh, plus music, song and dance workshops. There will be a folk service, pub sessions, children's entertainment plus a Sunday ramble on the moor.
There will be an increase on the new and exciting Children's Festival, which includes circus skills, storytelling, arts, crafts and music sessions.
The festival was founded by local musician, the late Bob Cann and is continued by an association of local enthusiasts, including members of his own family and friends.
This year's festival will also include local crafts and sideshows. There will be a caravan and campsite with all the usual facilities.
