IN the Okehampton Times on March 6, there was a photo of Spike Milligan with the WRVS at Sourton.

Sourton Parish Hall was opened in September 1963, the hall is in the photo.

I was there, with my mum  Christine Northey who is no longer with us.

Graham Payne from Jacobstowe was there with the St John ambulance and Sourton WI ladies. The mock disaster was staged at the top of Windard Terrace, just a little way from the hall.

Mr Tony Brooks has also revealed to the Times that Mr Milligan was pictured with WRVS ladies Francis Allen and Cynthia Hodgson at Sourton Village Hall on November 10, 1978 filming a civic defence training film involving the emergency services. Mr Brooks was present with the British Red Cross.
