AS a comparative newcomer to this wonderful town of Tavistock I was very sorry to hear that a prestigious group such as the Tavistock Group of Artists may no longer be able to afford the town hall as a venue for their annual art exhibition.

Last year hundreds of visitors from all over the UK and many from America, Canada, the Far East visited the exhibition, obviously bringing trade and goodwill to the town.

It is a great pity that the town hall is not in use for 52 weeks of the year at affordable rents for the citizens of Tavistock.
