MAGPIES did not start their season in the Okehampton and district Netball League as they would wish to go on - losing 33 goals to 55 against Hi - Line, who were the strongest team throughout with good goal scoring and fluid play. Magpies have had quite a few player changes for the start of the season so hopefully they will start to gel together over the next few matches. Players of the match went to Tricia Vernon for Magpies and Emma Donnelly for Hi-Line. The other first division match was between Quicksilver and newly promoted Hot Shots. Quicksilver showed their experience of playing in the first division by keeping control of the game throughout. Quicksilver won 44-17, with players of the match going to Claire Aldrich for Quicksilver and Kayleigh Walker of Hot Shots. In division two newly promoted Pink Panthers won 47-5 against Ladybirds. Players of the match went to Rebecca Cox of Pink Panthers and Cathy Fogerty of Ladybirds. Starlets were unfortunate not to gain half score against Maltesers, which saw Maltesers winning 35-17, with players of the match going to Becky Heard of Starlets and Gemma Anstey of Maltesers. Bradford Belles kept up their winning streak against Lifton Ladies, by winning 30-13. Players of the match were Jackie Priest for Bradford Belles and Kirsty Pearce for Lifton Ladies. Sugar and Spice also had another win, this time 52-23 against Falcon Juniors. Sarah Liversidge for Sugar and Spice and Hayley Curtis for Falcon Juniors were the players of the match. On September 25 there was more success for for Hi-Line against Quicksilver in a fierce contest which saw Hi-Line triumph by 39-31. Players of the match went to Marie Ewen for Quicksilver and Olivia Edmonds and Clare Toms for Hi ? Line. Also in division one Speedwells had another win against newly promoted Phoenix, with the score line of 42-18. Players of the match were Anne Donnelly of Speedwells and Polly Wood for Phoenix. Division two saw a close match between FBI and Sprites with FBI coming out on top 41-36. Players of the match were Zoë Colton for FBI and Sue Tidball of Sprites Sugar and Spice beat Starlets 59-8. Players of the match going to Becky Heard of Starlets and Amy Webber for Sugar and Spice.
