OKEHAMPTON Men?s Hockey Club reflected on a season of mixed fortunes at the club?s annual general meeting. The first team finished a lowly 10th in South West Division 1 of the Gerrard Hockey League. The up and coming 2nd team ? not currently in a league ? had an altogether more successful year. Many youngsters are now progressing through from the Youth Coaching Sessions being led by Richard Jones and other helpers on Saturday mornings. The club are looking forward to a new exciting season in the Gerrard Hockey League. Newly appointed club captain Andrew Harvey will miss the first few friendly games of the season as he is honeymooning in Egypt with his wife Laura. The new Club Chairman, John Jarvis, is one of the players who helped to found the club in 1991. This year will see Okehampton taking on various teams from Plymouth and Cornwall. The Youth Training Sessions will start this Saturday at 10am and the main training sessions are on Tuesdays at 8.15pm, both are held at the Okehampton College Astro Turf. The annual presentations included (pictured right) Josh Speaks Most Improved Player, Mike Reynolds, Player of the Season and Mark Parsons Clubman of the Year.
