SANDRA Moppett has been named the new president of the Inner Wheel of Okehampton, taking over from Margaret Thomas.

Members of the Inner Wheel Club of Okehampton have had another active year in the local community and given in excess of £2,500 in financial support to a number of organisations in the Okehampton area.

They have supported charities that operate at a national and international level.

The local organisations supported during 2015/16 included: Devon Air Ambulance, Devon Carers, Children’s Hospice SW, House of Rachel, Royal British Legion Okehampton Poppy Appeal, Shine for Spina Bifida, Tor Support Services and a donation to the Okehampton christmas lights fund.

National and international organisations supported are Mercy Ships, Parkinson’s Society, Sight Savers and the Rotary Charity Stop Polio campaign.

A spokesperson of the Inner Wheel Club said that without the continuing support of the people of Okehampton the successful fundraising would not be possible.

Inner Wheel expressed thanks to everyone for their continuing generosity. Not least for supporting their July coffee morning in the Charter Hall.
