STADDISCOMBE had most of the play and it was only the fine saves from Rebecca Rose that kept them out.

Tavistock welcomed back Sophie Bassett who supported well. Liah Roberts playing her debut match was strong in her clearances. New signing Amy Gale worked well with Robyn Hammond.

Hollie Shaw, playing midfield, took the ball up to pass to Gale. She slotted a through-ball to Hammond who beat the keeper to put Tavistock in the lead.

Summer Piper started well at the back and some brave tackles saw the ball cleared from dangerous attacks.

Staddiscombe broke through and fine saves from Rose saved Tavistock. Davey was outstanding in defence.

A shot from Gale was saved but a bad clearance was met by Hammond who streaked passed the defence and struck home.

THE day started badly with a car accident on the way in involving five Tavistock players. They arrived at the match late and shaken but the referee and Lipson manager insisted the match go ahead. Tavistock can only be commended in getting on with the game despite being upset and shocked by the accident.

Chloe Bassett rallied her team and despite near misses from Kim Davey it was a game that could have gone either way.

Tamsin Bryant had an excellent game and Joy Page at the back showed speed and determination to win the ball. Sarah Barrett held strong in centre. Shortly before half time Bassett struck to put Tavistock one up.

The second half saw fine saves from Robynne Honey and another close miss from Davey. Some hard challenges resulted in an injury to captain Chloe Bassett when an elbow struck her in the face.

Tavistock continued to fight and Bassett broke through again to get her second goal. In the last few minutes Bryant struck up and scored from a brilliant through ball from Davey.

Callington Colts 2

TAVISTOCK started full of confidence. Rhianne Parsons chased every ball and had some fine strikes at goal.

Great defensive work from Holly Krotke and Ruth Cole saw Tavistock close down every attack.

A great through ball from Krotke set Parsons up, who shot low and wide and put Tavistock in the lead. Callington fought back but Louise Galway in goal pulled off some terrific saves. A minute before half time Callington equalised.

The second half saw Macauley send some superb crosses in to the strikes. Callington were strong in the break and Galway pulled off some fingertip saves to keep Tavistock in the match.

Tavistock took the lead from Parsons who headed home after a fine cross from Macauley. In the dying second an awkward spinning ball trickled in to get Callington their equaliser.
