A ROCK benefit concert held last month to remember the fallen of the first and second world wars and other conflicts raised the excellent total of £265 for the Poppy appeal. The idea of a concert was devised by Okehampton music fan Andrew Durman, who last week presented a cheque to the Royal British Legion. The concert which took place at the Charter Hall on Thursday, November 11, featured live music from local bands Crazy Train, Black Tulip, Raucous Pigeon, Two Foot Giant and headliners Fosta. Andrew thanked all the poppy-wearing gig-goers, the bands who took part, the Rockbeast website and Danny Drew, without whose help the event could not have happened. Andrew said the depth of gratitude the Poppy appeal organisers had shown him, had encouraged him to consider holding a similar sort of event again next year.
