A FALLEN power line caused major traffic problems in Tavistock last Thursday.

The problem occurred at 2.45pm on Thursday, when SWEB felled a tree which took out a power line, along Parkwood Road, by Kelly College. The felled power line completely blocked Parkwood Road on both sides, and caused the road to be closed for more than five hours.

The road was closed and a temporary diversion set up, which caused heavy delays for commuter traffic in Tavistock. Several teams from SWEB were called in to deal with the problem of two downed power cables. A number of homes in the area suffered a loss of power as a result of the incident.

The A386 on the Sourton side was closed from 5pm. Parkwood Road was later reopened at around 8pm.
