HANDBELL teams from West Devon and East Cornwall all took part in a recent music festival.
At Lamerton's 40th annual Handbell Festival the standard of ringing throughout was 'exceptional', making it difficult for the judges to choose winners.
Winners of the Mr and Mrs W P Dawe Cup for best tune ringing, the William Manning Memorial Shield, best peal ringing performance, the Firkins Shield, best junior ringing performance, and the Roy Bould Cup, were all won by the Lamerton senior and junior teams.
'All the Fours' from Okehampton won the Hamlet Trophy for the best four-in-hand performance.
All teams took part and the Callington Ringers concluded the festival.
Judges were Fergus Stracey from Plymouth and Mrs Jo Hugo from Tavistock. The awards were presented to the teams by Mrs Mary Dawe and Graham Manning.
• The Lamerton teams are now practising for events leading up to Christmas — in particular the Tavistock Musical Theatre Company's number one Christmas production at Lamerton Sports and Community Centre on Tuesday, December 10 at 7.30pm. Enquiries to Mrs Jean Eggins on 01822 612608.
