A TOTAL of £6,000 has been donated to two charities from a horse ride held in the Tamar Valley in October.

The Tamar Pleasure Ride ride was organised by renowned fundraiser Michael Bickell and the proceeds have been given to CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) and SADS (Sudden Adult Death Syndrome).

Both charities are very close to Michael's heart, having lost his daughter-in-law suddenly in June.

The presentation of the money was made during the meet of the Lamerton Hunt on December 28 at the Castle Inn, Lydford where Michael was pleased to support landlords Steve and Jo Attree.

During his charity ride last year to London, they provided the team with a plentiful pit-stop at their local pub, the Running Mare in Cobham, Surrey.

It is hoped that part of the money raised can be used to provide a defibrillator locally for the benefit of the community.

Both charities raise the awareness of conditions that can lead to Sudden Adult Death Syndrome and support families who have lost an apparently fit and healthy person. CRY holds ECG screening clinics for those aged 14 to 35.

The next mobile screening unit will be in Bude on January 30 and 31, more details are available on the CRY website http://www.c-r-y.org.uk">www.c-r-y.org.uk
