There were smiles all round as Tavistock Town Council opened its newly refurbished offices and chamber to the public last Thursday.
Mayor Jenny Metcalf cut the ribbon to declare the Drake Road offices open and welcomed the many Tavistock residents who were present, before inviting everyone to tuck into tea and biscuits.
During the last twelve months the council has spent more than a quarter of a million pounds undertaking major work on the chamber, including renewing the ailing roof and installing lifts and fixtures to comply with the new Disability Discrimination Act and health and safety regulations.
