A DISTRAUGHT local woman is appealing for information concerning her missing cat.
Sue Oldfield returned home from a trip to discover her 14-year-old black cat Tingting had gone missing from her home in Meadow Brook, Tavistock.
Despite having walked and driven round the area regularly and checked the vets and animal shelters, Sue has not been able to locate Tingting and fears he may be injured or stuck somewhere.
He is neutered and micro-chipped with short black hair and green eyes.
He also has lots of individual white hairs in his coat, a grey patch on the muzzle and a slight brown tinge on part of the coat.
Sue said: ‘My cat has been missing for two weeks. He never usually goes very far so this is out of character. I’m particularly concerned that he might have been attacked by a dog or fox.
‘I’m asking everyone to double-check their gardens, garages and outbuildings in case he has got in somewhere and is trapped or dead. I’d also like to ask all dog owners to be vigilant if they are out walking and their dogs smell something or if there’s a bad smell nearby to please investigate. I live near the cycle path so there is a lot of undergrowth and he could be trapped beneath that.
‘I am still hoping he is alive but would also like to know if he is dead, as not knowing what has happened is the worst part. It’s been an awful few months, as a very dear friend of mine took his own life recently.
‘I’m away on business every two or three weeks for four to five days so Tingting is used to me going away for a few days and he is well looked after in his usual environment when I am away. He is more like a dog and loves human company – it upsets me so much to think he might be injured.
‘When I’ve been away before and come back, he usually comes hurtling towards me calling at the top of his voice and if he isn’t around when I arrive home, he always comes to me within a few minutes when I call his name.
‘I feel so awful and can’t rest until I know one way or the other what has happened to him. I have done everything I can think of, including contacting the vets, rescue centres and the council.
‘In addition to walking up and down the local area calling for him, a friend and I have distributed 250 flyers door to door, plus placed two advertisements in the Times, but to no avail.
‘A lady called me last week and had seen a cat who looked very similar but it wasn’t him – that is the only response I’ve had so far.’
Sue said that she is also offering a reward to anyone who can provide any information on Tingting’s whereabouts.
