WITH the advent of the new Astroturf pitch, Kelly College boys' hockey is undergoing a revival - the college now fields three senior and three junior teams.

Despite a tough day at the hands of a strong Exeter School, the 1st XI drew 2-2 with their 2nd XI, and the U13 managed a respectable 3-0 defeat - the club record to date is a creditable one.

This includes a clean sweep against Truro School, with the 2nd XI's excellent performance winning 4-2.

Part of the renewed enthusiasm stems from the excellent floodlit facility, a challenging new fixture list along with the addition of two new highly qualified hockey coaches, namely David Tarr - current premier division player with Taunton Vale - and Matthew Way, a former Welsh International.

At the senior end, the college is lucky enough to have the experience of Philip Sanders (club captain), Gary Uglow and Ed Sainter who are looking to develop some of the exciting potential within the junior teams. Noteworthy performances so far have come from Healthy Wong, Sam Morton, Robert Hall, Dominic Lovett, Oliver Cowen d'Arcy, George Curtoys, and the Pickard brothers, Alex and Will.
