THE members of the Bere Alston branch of the Royal British Legion, would like to thank all the people that live on the Bere Peninsula.

Once again they have excelled all expectation, the total amount collected so far for this year's Poppy Appeal is £9,053.89.

A big thank you must be given to Derek Hicks and Dotty Allen with the Bere Alston Trekkers. With 97 runners in all, they raised £7,137.32.

We would also like to thank all the Poppy collectors, who go out in all kinds of weather to collect your donations.

Thanks to Mansbridge and Balment, Spar, Bere Peninsula Pharmacy, J A N Brown and Bere Ferrers Social Club, each year they sponsor wreaths on behalf of the youth organisations ie, Brownies, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Guides. Wreaths are also increasing - Women's Institute, Bere History Group, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, Bere Alston Primary School, Bere Ferrers Parish Council. There is also interest from play groups.

If there are any other associations or groups who would like to include in the Remembrance Day ceremony, wreaths can be designed with your logo included.
