THE Lambs regained second spot with this comfortable victory. They got on the scoresheet after just five minutes when James Cole?s ball over the defence saw Jeff Babb get a great first touch to allow himself to go past the keeper and slot home.
Three minutes later the visitors spurned a chance to draw level but Morris?s shot was weak and missed the target. Chris Gott then saw his shot go straight to the keeper before the Lambs doubled their score on the half-hour. It was Babb again as he turned sharply in the area to send in a shot and despite Avery getting a hand to it could not prevent the ball going in.
Gott received an injury and had to be replaced by Steve Daymond. The Lambs had the best spell of the first half with Nathan Blamey setting up Paul Smith only for his deft lob to go onto the roof of the netting. Lee Doncaster had at least three chances in quick succession, missing the target from close range and the keeper making a double save from his other efforts.
But the Lambs were not going to be denied when they got their third minutes before the break as Blamey and Babb combined for Daymond to shoot home from eight yards.
There was still time for the visitors to attack. Cole had to clear a shot off the line and Andy Meeds tipped the clearance over the bar.
At the start of the second half Damon Mulready shot wide after a free kick was whipped in at the near post, but the Lambs replied in emphatic fashion when James Cole?s corner could only be pushed out by the keeper to Smith. He struck it sweetly straight back into the net to put the Lambs completely in charge.
The visitors then had their best spell, forcing a succession of corners and free kicks and from the fifth Meeds did well to push a shot around a post to keep a clean sheet,
From then on the Lambs played their best football with man of the match Wayne Crow going close from a Daymond cross. Cole coming forward from deep flashed a shot wide of the post then Daymond was unlucky not to get his second after Babb sent him clear, only to see his chip hit the crossbar.
l Secretary Phil Lowe hastily rearranged a game for this Saturday after the scheduled game at Torpoint was postponed due to their involvement in a Cornwall Senior Cup replay against Wadebridge. The Lambs will now travel to Lux Park to take on Liskeard in the league with a 2.30pm kick-off.
The P & D side are away to Wessex Rangers at Yelverton with a 2.15pm kick-off.
