TWO special events held in Horrabridge recently have raised a total of £770 for charity. Both events were dedicated to the memory of Josie Shadrick, who died in October. The Horrabridge Cavaliers ran a village quiz in the community hall. The proceeds from entry fees and the raffle raised £638, with the quiz winners paying back their cash prize to the funds. The total was further boosted as many winners in the raffle put their prizes for auction. Former members of the now-defunct Bere Alston District Euchre League attended a euchre drive at the London Inn in Horrabridge, organised by Marian Gray and Rose Peach, and this event raised £132. Josie Shadrick and her husband Brian, were active members of the Euchre League for many years. The organisers of both events would like to thank all those involved for their generosity. The proceeds from the two events will be divided equally between St Luke?s Hospice and Marie Curie Nurses, both of which organisations were very supportive of Josie and her family though her illness.
