TAVISTOCK Sir Francis Drake Bowling Club?s first match of the week against Devon Patrons Association was abandoned at the 14th end following persistent rain. The result at abandonment saw the Patrons Association win the match with a score of 80-74. Tavistock skips results were: Norman Paramor won 16-6 and skip John Smith won 20-12, while skips Malcolm Bloomer, Mike Allen and Ron Cooper all saw their rinks lose. Tuesday?s men?s Evening League match against Unity Park in Plymouth ended as a 77-68 victory for the Tavistock team after they won three of the four rinks played. Tavistock skips results were: Mike Allen won 18-17, Malcolm Bloomer won 21-18, Clive Jago won 29-12 and Norman Paramor lost 9-21. Wednesday saw the visit of a four rink team from Chagford for a triples match, which ended in a 74-57 victory for the Tavistock teams after they won three of the four rinks. Skip Ernie Piper and his squad achieved a 27-14 victory and skip Sue Silcox and her squad won 13-12. Hazel Lovell and her team achieved a 25-7 victory, while John Smith and his crew lost 9-24. The Ladies? Section two rink League match at home to Plymstock Birds saw them win on both rinks, with skip Betty Browse and her team winning 28-17 and skip Sue Silcox and her squad notching up a 21-16 victory. The men?s section, Evening League fixture on Thursday evening was a home match against Plymouth Civil Service Salaried Staff Association and ended as a 75-66 victory for the visiting team despite Tavistock winning three of the four rinks played. Tavistock skips Norman Paramor (19-15), Malcolm Bloomer (21-16), Mike Allen 18-14) all won, while skip Clive Jago and his team lost (8-30).
