ST Mary's Church in Throwleigh will play host to a concert of ragtime, boogie-woogie and classic jazz on Saturday June 4, presented by the Original Rags.
The duo, comprising Mike Denham and Steve Graham, will visit the classic ragtime of Scott Joplin, popular melodies by Fats Waller and Irving Berln, boogie-woogie by the likes of Albert Ammons and Pete Johnson, and the sweet, hot jazz of Louis Armstrong and Bix Beiderbecke.
The music will be interspersed with entertaining anecdotes about the musical figures and the colourful lives they led.
Steve is a highly acclaimed musician on both trumpet and mandolin, while Mike is an accomplished solo pianist.
Original Rags have performed at prestigious venues such as London's Purcell Room and St George's Bristol.
The concert is one of a series of events in Throwleigh by the Friends of Throwleigh Church. The music starts at 7.30pm with tickets available from Michael Paget on 01647 231213 or Dawn Hatton on 01647 231051.
