FOUR staff members, past and present, of Lynbridge Dental Practice put their sewing skills on show to raise money for charity.
Kate Steer, Lynne Chart, Tracy Smith and Val McCarthy joined forces to form Lynbridge Ladies with the aim of raising as much money as they can for four charities by making quilts and raffling them.
Proceeds from the ladies' first quilt will be donated to a staff member's son, Matthew Butler, who works for a small self-funding charity called Tourism Concern. The charity campaigns for a world free from exploitation, in which all parties involved in tourism benefit equally and in which relationships between industry, tourists and host communities are based on trust and respect —http://www.tourismconcern.org">www.tourismconcern.org
The quilt was presented to raffle winner Kate Davis by staff members Hatie Steer and Tracy Smith. The raffle for the quilt raised more than £200 for Tourism Concern.
Other charities the ladies hope to support this year are the Margaret Green Foundation — an animal rescue charity with centres in Brentor and Dorset, the Triangle Centre — a chemotherapy outreach project formed to enable patients to be treated in local hospitals close to their homes, and Help for Heroes.
