ANTIQUE enthusiasts turned out in their hundreds last Sunday, to watch BBC TV series Flog It! valuation experts arrive at Tavistock Pannier Market. The crew from the popular daytime programme filmed the antiques show, which will be screened on BBC Two in around six months' time. Owners of antiques and objets d'art queued for up to three hours to be seen by one of the many experts or by popular show presenter Paul Martin. The antiques series invites members of the public to bring along any antiques and collectables they are interested in selling. Once valued the owner and team of experts decide whether it should go forward for auction — if the item is chosen it is sold a few weeks later. The filming of the auction will take place on Tuesday, March 11 at Eldreds Auctioneers and Valuers in Plymouth and will be broadcast as part of the seventh series. Tavistock residents Jackie and Kevin Eady had some of their collectables looked at by Philip, one of the show's experts. Jackie said: 'It was a British Rail poster of Teignmouth in the 40s which I have had for 30 years. It is a night beach scene of some bathers, and the colours in it are really nice. 'They all really liked it — they spotted me with it in the queue. I bought it at Didcot Station as they used to have a museum there. 'I also brought some dolls' house items which are now over 50 years old, which will also go to auction on March 11.' Paul Dorrington, senior market assistant in Tavistock, said the day was a success with around 520 to 530 people turning up. He said: 'They had more than the crew thought and more than their average which is 350 to 355, so the team were really happy. 'They selected over 20 items to sell at Eldreds' auction.'
