MORE than 30 young runners enjoyed testing their stamina over mud soaked fields at Boasley Cross in the 19th small Schools cross country championships.
Leon Horn from Bridestowe School was the first runner over the line, helping his team retain the winners' shield for the fourth year running. The pupils of Boasley Cross were second, Lydford third, Exbourne fourth and Northlew fifth.
Naomi Clark, the school secretary at Boasley Cross said: 'It was very wet and muddy but that did not put off the children who were brilliant and just got on with it. The atmosphere was brilliant.
On behalf of the school she thanked Barrie Timms, the chairman of Boasley Cross School governors for organising the event and whose land the youngsters ran over, as well as all the parents who helped with the marshalling.
