SOME of the Tamar Valley's younger artists attended a special preview of their art exhibition at the Limekiln Gallery in Calstock last month.

The artists from class 1 of Calstock School showed their drawings and landscapes of Kit Hill alongside the gallery's current exhibition of work by Ley Roberts, Alli Eynon and Ryan Rodgers, who were present to talk to the younger artists about their work.

Bernie Hawes from the gallery said: 'We are delighted to be showing this wonderful work by such young and talented artists and hope that it will encourage them towards lifelong creativity. It's important for us to be engaging with our wonderful school.'

Class 1 teacher Joy Parker said: 'The exhibition of the children's artwork was the end product of our topic work; a process that began with a visit to the gallery, then a visit to Kit Hill accompanied by artist Ley Roberts, followed by a colour mixing workshop led by Nick Urwin, another local artist.

'Our pupils were very proud to show their final pieces of work, both landscape paintings and charcoal drawings of trees, to their parents and grandparents who attended the preview.

'It has been a fantastic experience for the children and one they will never forget. We are indebted to Bernie and Ley from the Limekiln Gallery for making it possible.'
