PUPILS of St Peter's Primary School in Tavistock were busy designing posters last week to advertise their Christmas fair tomorrow (Friday).

The pupils took part in a poster competition which was judged by MP for West Devon and Torridge Geoffrey Cox, while he was visiting the school.

Chair of Governors for the school, Tim Jones, said: 'Mr Cox was visiting the school to find out about our federation between St Peter's and St Rumon's. He was really interested in seeing how a federation between neighbouring schools can be successful. He also expressed an interest in our St Peter's Appeal — a major appeal in which we hope to raise £20,000 in the next 12 months to improve St Peter's School building. While he was at the school, we asked him to judge the poster competition.'

Mr Cox chose Yasmine Jauffur's entry and Lauren Brereton and Kaitlyn Lees' entry as the winning posters, and their prize was to have their posters printed and used to advertise the Christmas fair.

The fair will take place from 5pm to 7pm, and for the first time, will be held at St Rumon's.
