POLICE this week issued a warning about substance abuse in a West Devon village. PC Steve Bradfield, Princetown?s neighbourhood beat manager, said he was very worried at the scale of cannabis use in the village. He said: ?I think there are mixed messages about cannabis, but it?s still an illegal drug and possession of it is an arrestable offence. ?I am very concerned about the amount of cannabis being used in Princetown ? and it appears that more and more young people are using it.? PC Bradfield said: ?I believe there is a lot of cultivation going on, because of the scale of use of cannabis in Princetown.? He said he was worried that adults could be openly using cannabis in front of their children, creating a false impression about the drug. Parents or young people who have concerns about drug abuse can contact Youthwize, which is in Tavistock?s Pixon Lane, for free, confidential help and advice. A spokesman for Youthwize said: ?We have loads of resources, leaflets and interactive things young people or parents can use to learn about cannabis use and we have a dedicated drugs and alcohol worker who can help.? Youthwize can be contacted on 01822 612555.
