POLICE in Tavistock are appealing for information after a man was struck by a car that did not stop last Friday (June 17), following a fatal collision that closed the A390 between Tavistock and Gulworthy.

PC Burns is asking for assistance in tracing a car involved in an incident where a pedestrian was struck by a car.

Last Friday there was a fatal road collision on the main A390 near the Harvest Home B&B at around 7am. As a result, the road was closed and a diversion was put in place while investigations were taking place.

At around 8.30am to 8.45am a man was walking his Great Dane dog along the back lane that runs past Newton Farm at Colcharton, when he was struck by a passing car using the diversion route. The car in question was a black, older X-type Jaguar and both car and pedestrian were travelling towards Tavistock. The Jaguar had a ’Vote Leave’ sticker in the window and the driver was described as grey-haired and probably in his 60s. The car immediately in front was also a Jaguar, but navy blue and the new shape.

A witness suggested the black Jaguar was probably around 10 to 15 years old.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has any information that may help enquiries, is asked to contact police on 101.
