Plymstock RFC U13s 0 Tavistock RFC U13s 55 THE tenor of the match was set in the first five minutes when unmarked winger Jamie Duncan crossed the line in a classic text book move which saw the ball won in the scrum and passed swiftly across the complete width through all hands. The second try was the first of three delivered by Jonty Newton a few minutes later in an almost identical move, save that the ball did not pass to the wing. Jonty's second crossing came ten minutes later directly under the posts . It became clear that Tavistock had virtually all the possession from both the set scrum and lineouts with some strong work from the likes of Martin Budden, Jack Crozier, Sam Pluckrose and Dominic Dewson, among others, feeding the ball to the backs who were taking full advantage of the space. Excellent support was given to players making breaks which enabled Jez Massy Birch to offload the ball to a sprinting Will Coulton for Tavistock's fourth try. The fifth demonstrated similar support when Dewson was tackled near the Plymstock line, turned and passed to a waiting Frazer Bayliss only feet behind him with space to score the try. The final try of the first half came from a swift offload from Newton to Bayliss who used the open space for his second try. The strong half-time lead enabled the repositioning of players to gain valuable match experience with the result that the on-field performance was not as polished. Nevertheless, Henry Kisby scored from a series of well timed passes among a number of the backs. The third try from Newton came from a blindside run from the back of a scrum near the Plymstock line, using an element of surprise which lasted for the crucial seconds enabling grounding with full arm extension. The final try came from Jez Massy Birch who weaved from the half-way line through the Plymstock defences before delivering an uncatchable sprint.
