ALL things radio will be the order of the day at Tavistock College on Monday when Dartmoor Radio Club holds its annual Amateur Radio Rally.

There will be several local radio clubs present as well as Dartmoor Radio Club and representatives of local Repeater groups. The event, on Monday May 4, starts at 10.15pm.

Many traders will be selling all sorts of amateur radio equipment, computers and communications equipment. There will also be several charity groups represented, including the Royal British Legion. The rally is run by club members with the assistance of the local ATC.

Dartmoor Radio Club meets on the first Thursday of each month at Yelverton Memorial Hall at 7.30pm. Apart from construction and help nights, the club also runs outdoor DXpeditions winter and summer. This enables members to contact radio amateurs on other continents.

Communication help is given for two local running and walking events: the Dartmoor Ultra Marathon in June and the Abbotsway Walk in October — one of the problems with communicating on Dartmoor is that mobile phone communication is very difficult, whereas radio amateurs can get through.
