I WANT to remind people to stop at zebra crossings. On several occasions recently I have had cars drive on instead of stopping whilst I have been standing with children at the crossing at the top of Monksmead.
This has also happened recently at the crossing at the top of Plymouth Road by the Alexander Centre, a crossing which many children use en route to school or to and from the park.
I always tell the children to stop and wait till a car stops at the zebra crossing but a child on their own who knows the crossing should be a safe place to cross may decide to cross, causing a very nasty accident which with a little more thought could be easily avoided.
Another issue with drivers in Tavistock seems to be outside the Post Office where I have witnessed cars stop for the red light but drive off once people have crossed prior to it turning green. Why are we in such a rush?
