Royal Oak U15s
St Cleer 0
Tavistock Thistles 3
THISTLES continued their recent improvement with this good away win . Playing up the slope and against the wind in the first half, they were under pressure from a determined St Cleer, but defenders Nick Lovering, Jon Walker, Jack Yeo, marshalled by Joseph Busuttil, who grows in stature with each game, ensured Alex Dingle had little to deal with in goal.
Captain Andrew Wallace produced a powerful performance in midfield, encouraging his team forward. Darren Phillips raced on to a good through ball midway through the first half and slotted it past the home keeper to put the visitors ahead.
Joseph Busuttil broke out of defence and played a great ball to Darren Phillips who sped into the St Cleer penalty area and finished with some style to put Thistles two up.
Matthew Stephens, having an excellent game in midfield, broke up St Cleer attacks and set up Thistles attacks by playing telling forward passes to the dangerous Darren Phillips and Adam Stephens, who were a handful for the home defence.
Another good through ball was converted into goal number three by Darren Phillips for his second hat-trick in three games.
