OKEHAMPTON Round Table has pledged £300 to the Okehampton Cricket Club youth team after increased demand from local youngsters.
The club has a rapidly growing membership in the senior and youth set-up, with the club having started a team of U16s to play in the Tamar league. The games played will provide the youth players with valuable experience against seniors and help their abilities to develop.
The money will help to put new cricket coaches through courses and pay for CRB checks, as well as providing the youth team with new equipment. This is line with a massive drive at the club to improve facilities - new nets and an artificial wicket were recently installed at the cricket ground.
