RESIDENTS of a care home in Tavistock were delighted with a gift of potted hyacinths recently.
The Lawns, a care home for adults with learning disabilities, received a gift of 15 plants from charity organisation Charitable Giving as part of ‘Giving Tuesday’.
Giving Tuesday comes after popular American tradition ‘Black Friday’ which sees shops hold sales the day after Thanksgiving and ‘Cyber Monday’ — a continuation of the sales online. It is a day to encourage people to do good things for charity.
Tanya Lashbrook, senior carer at The Lawns, said: ‘They gave us 15 pots of hyacinths which we have now put all around the home. They told us they should start flowering over Christmas.
‘The residents were over the moon with the donation of flowers and it was nice to have representatives of the charity round to socialise with the residents.’
