VOLUNTEERS are being sought for the Greater Dartmoor Local Environment Action Fund (GDLEAF) to become more involved with helping to administer the fund.
The fund, which covers Dartmoor, including West Devon, has £1.8-million of European money to invest in local projects that support economic and social wellbeing, with a strong emphasis on achieving sustainable communities and addressing environmental concerns.
To be eligible, projects must help local businesses, particularly to access markets or distribute products, find innovative ways to improve community facilities and encourage business services, or develop projects which exploit the natural, cultural and creative heritage of the area.
The GDLEAF is now encouraging more people to get involved with its activity, by helping to appraise projects, or by joining the management team.
The group is looking for up to six new members to join them at monthly meetings to consider project applications.
More information will be given on the GDLEAF at two open forums. On Monday, September 7 at 6.30pm there will be an open forum at the South Hams District Council offices at Follaton House in Totnes, while the Okehampton Business Centre will host a second forum at 2pm on Wednesday, September 9.
The forums are open to everyone. More information is available at http://www.greaterdartmoorLEAF.org">www.greaterdartmoorLEAF.org
