Tavistock Peace Action Group have organised an open meeting with Mr Burnett to enable local people to raise their concerns about the possibility of conflict with Iraq.
Margaret Quinn, a co-ordinator of the group said she was pleased Mr Burnett had agreed to meet with the group in Tavistock. ?This meeting is a valuable opportunity to ask questions and speak directly with our MP,? she said.
Mrs Quinn said she hoped many members of the public would come along to lobby Mr Burnett on the issue. The group is also holding an information stall in Tavistock Pannier Market on the same day, providing the opportunity to sign a petition or send postcards to Tony Blair.
The lobby takes place this Saturday, February 1, between 12-2pm at the Methodist Church Hall, Chapel Street, Tavistock.
Tavistock Peace Action Group is also still taking bookings for seats on coaches to the national anti-war demonstration in London on Saturday, February 15.
Organisers are willing to pick up marchers in Okehampton as well as Tavistock. For more information, please ring Martin or Lorna on 01822 617630 (daytime) or 01822 833934 (evenings).
