Marjons 3rd 0 Okehampton Columbines 1st 7 WITH Okehampton only able to field ten on the day Marjons should have made them work harder for the win. A through ball early on from Jane Jones caught the Marjons defence square for Jo Moppett to run on to and coolly round the goalkeeper for her first. Columbines utilised Moppett's pace and she scored two more similar goals before Marjons changed the shape of their defence. With the 3-0 cushion given by Moppett, Okehampton cruised the game. Debbie Pritchard, Carol Taylor and Sandy Corkhill were solid at the back and Marjons rarely had a chance on goal. Moppett scored her fourth before half-time after a Marjons defender kicked the ball off the goal-line to concede a penalty. Columbines did not play their best hockey but worked hard and with a strong team spirit. Abi Colton showed this with an outstanding second half, well supported by her wing halves Jane Jones and Clare Smith. Columbines cored three more goals to take the score to 7-0 and Moppett's tally to five in the match. This week Okehampton are away to Camborne.
