THE Devon Local Optical Committee (LOC) has been nominated for a prestigious national award in recognition of its services to optics.

Devon LOC was shortlisted by a selection committee for its outstanding work in promoting the importance of eye care in the community.

Charles Bill, chairman of Devon LOC said: 'It is an honour and a privilege to be nominated and shortlisted for the LOC of the Year awards this year — we were shocked to hear the news.'

Devon LOC have been recognised due to their work across the whole of Devon. Known as the 'Gatekeepers of Eyecare', local Optometrists are a highly skilled professional workforce who provide excellent eyecare locally. This has not only saved money to the NHS but also provides convenient, good quality eyecare in the local community.

Voting will close on September 6 at midnight.
