ON behalf of Cancer Research UK, I would like to thank all those who so generously contributed to the street collection at Yelverton last Saturday.

In cold, windswept and frequently wet conditions, people gave a total of £275 in sterling and a further heavy amount in foreign currency small change.

The latter will be counted and converted centrally in combination with other collections, because banks can only accept it in bulk. It is therefore not going to be possible to discover its exact sterling equivalent, but it is estimated to put the total amount collected to well over £300.

Out committee is hugely grateful and appreciative, and would like you to know that there is another chance to clear out your useless old European small change on Saturday May 18, at a double garden open at 2 Pew Tor Close and 6 Clonway, Yelverton.
